Relational Frame Theory (RFT) is a psychological theory of human language and the science behind Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). RFT is essentially trying to explain the way we use language – both speaking and thinking – and how that affects our behavior. What RFT does is attempt to break down the complex idea of language into manageable bits or systems called relational frames.
